About me
I came to America with the goal of earning a higher degree, but I was uncertain about my future. Without friends or family at the school, I struggled to find a sense of belonging. With the support of advisors, I was able to find my classes and register with little to no issues. But what about friends? I had no one to connect with, and I felt alone. Eventually, I learned about the clubs offered at Valencia College, and I was excited to join them all! However, I decided to start with one and try others if the first didn’t work out. At this point, you might think I had made many friends, but I hadn’t. Months passed, and I still had no one to call a friend. Valencia College hosts events throughout the semester, so I decided to take part and enjoy the experiences. I also began attending the Math and Physics Center, where tutors were always ready to help me grasp difficult concepts. I joined programs like Phi Theta Kappa, kept in touch with my advisors, and gradually began to feel more included and noticed. And guess what? Along the way, I met many people and made lasting friendships. With the help of Valencia College, I now look ahead to a bright future—one I can celebrate with many friends. Go Pumas!
